Cancellation of Removal
“Cancellation of Removal” cases are usually difficult due to the extreme and unusual hardship criteria. In addition, when the client struggles to demonstrate good moral character, the case becomes even more difficult to win. Recently, our office won a case where our client had prior DUI records that affected his good moral character. Our office was able to demonstrate his efforts toward rehabilitation. As for extremely unusual hardship, we were able to demonstrate at least one child needed special attention because he had suffered infrequent heart murmurs and was missing 1 kidney. Winning cases of this kind is meaningful because this is a clear example of the reunification of a family. It is always a heart-warming experience to see the excitement and happiness of a family that struggled to have their legal status in this country for over 10 years, finally able to breathe a sigh of relief because that burden has been lifted.
